CERTIFICATIONS
MASCOT’s own quality label, TESTED TO WORK, is not an international standard, but is MASCOT's quality stamp that guarantees you a proven product. It means that both the fabric and the suppliers are quality assured. It also means that the product has been produced under good working conditions and with numerous checks along the way. The product has also undergone wearer trials before we put it into production. And, we've checked that it has the right features for your daily work. All this and much more is what TESTED TO WORK stands for. It is your guarantee of quality!
Workwear
MASCOT’s workwear is certified according to high international standards. Here, you can learn more about the various certifications to make sure that you have the correct workwear for your working conditions.
EN ISO 20471 - High visibility clothing
This class designation (the X next to the symbol) indicates the class in relation to how well the product is able to offer protection. The highest class that can be achieved is class 3. In EN ISO 20471, all reflectors must meet the requirements for class 2 with regard to the reflector's ability to reflect light. If the manufacturer so desires, combined outfits can be classified according to a higher protection class than the one given to a single garment used on its own. The possible higher class is specified on the label of the garment. Clothing that is certified in accordance with this version is tested after washing. Unless otherwise stated on the clothing label, the material has been tested after five wash cycles.
EN 342 - Protection against the cold
The best way to protect yourself from the cold is to use workwear that is certified in accordance with EN 342:2017. In order to obtain maximum protection, your workwear should be kept dry and tight around openings, such as the wrists, for example. You will also need to wear gloves and a hat, etc, in order to avoid local cooling. Each individual product is classified in accordance with different values: thermal insulation value (Y), degree of air permeability (AP) and, if applicable, waterproofness (WP).
EN 343 - Breathable, wind and waterproof clothing
When there's a job that needs to be done whatever the weather, it's important to be properly dressed. EN 343 is an European standard for protective clothing. Look for EN 343 certification if you want to be guaranteed comfort even when it's windy and raining. You will find two values beside the symbol for EN 343. The first number indicates waterproofness. The second number describes the breathability of the overall product. Both values are divided into classes from 1-3, with 3 indicating the highest class in both cases.
EN ISO 11611 - Protection when welding
This standard specifies the minimum requirements for protective clothing used when welding or performing similar processes with comparable risks. There are two classes, 1 and 2, with class 2 being the highest (= the best level of protection).
EN ISO 11612 - Protection against heat and flame
Clothing that protects against heat and flames. This standard describes coveralls made from a flexible fabric which are designed to protect the user's body (but not the hands) from heat and/or flames. With the exception of hats and gaiters, garments for the protection of the head, hands or feet are not covered.
EN ISO 14116 - Protection against heat and flame
This standard specifies the performance requirements for materials, material combinations and items of protective clothing with limited flame spread properties in order to reduce the likelihood of the clothing catching fire and thereby constituting a hazard.
IEC 61482-2 - Live working
Clothing that protects against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. IEC 61482-2 certification involves two test methods. The first test method (open electric arc) tests the fabric and garment in order to determine the ATPV/EBT value of the clothing. The second method (box test) determines the electric arc protection class of the fabric and the garment through the use of a forced and controlled electric arc. There are two different classes, with class 2 being the highest and offering the best protection.
EN 1149-3/5 - Protective clothing with electrostatic properties

EN 1149-3:2004 - electrical discharge.
This standard describes the breakdown of electrostatic charges from the surface of the clothing materials.
EN 1149-5:2008 - materials performance and design
This standard describes the requirements for the materials and design of electrostatic dissipative protective clothing which is used as part of a grounded system to prevent incendiary discharges.
EN 13034 - Protective clothing against liquid chemicals
This standard describes the performance requirements for chemical protective clothing that provides limited protection against liquid chemicals (type 6 and type PB [6] equipment). Chemical protective clothing with a limited performance ability is intended for use in the event of potential exposure to low volume splashes, fluid dispersion or spray with low pressure and volume.
EN 13758-2 UPF 40+ - Properties that protect against UV rays
A product certified according to EN 13758-2 provides documented protection against the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays. The products are labelled with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF value), which corresponds to the protection capability. A label with, for example, a UPF 20+ factor indicates that a maximum of 1/20 of the sun's harmful rays penetrate the clothing. This means that, thanks to the clothing, you can expose the protected skin to the sun's rays 20 times longer than you would without protection. The protection capability is reduced if, for example, the product becomes worn, if the care instructions are not followed or if the clothing becomes wet. The highest UPF label that the clothing can carry is UPF 40+, which corresponds to a maximum penetration of 2.5% of the sun's harmful rays.
Safety footwear
At MASCOT, we offer complete safety. That's why you will find safety footwear that is certified according to different safety classes. The safety class depends on the level of safety features the user expect the footwear to meet. In addition to the requirement of safety class in question, all of MASCOT's safety footwear is equipped with anti-slip soles, an ergonomic fit, anti-static properties and excellent shock-absorption.
EN ISO 20345
EN ISO 20345 is a European standard for safety footwear that ensures that safety shoes, boots and sandals conform to the necessary requirements of working in areas where safety is a high priority. All safety footwear from MASCOT® FOOTWEAR is certified in accordance with EN ISO 20345.
EN ISO 20347
EN ISO 20347 is a European standard for footwear without toe cap for commercial use. The standard covers footwear with certified slip resistant properties, which is shock absorbing and breathable, as well as stabilising. MASCOT's assortment includes footwear that is certified according to EN ISO 20347, with the highest standard in slip resistance, SRC.
Safety Class S1
Full safety: Shoes, sandals and boots with toe cap. Not water-repellent.
Options: A wide assortment of footwear with diffferent closure systems. Safety footwear with toe cap, slip resistant and anti-static soles, and a closed heel.
Safety Class S1P
Full safety: Shoes and boots with midsole and toe cap. Not water resistant.
Options: A very wide range, both with and without scuff caps, different closure systems, many shoes and sandals, as well as a boot option, several widths including a selection of women's models, in different materials. Always with high walking comfort.
Especially worn by: Workers in need of particularly sturdy footwear for use indoors, summer use or occasional outdoor use year round.
Safety Class S2
Full safety: Safety footwear with toe cap. Water-repellent.
Options: Safety footwear with toe cap, slip resistant and anti-static soles and a closed heel. Water-repellent according to EN ISO 20345.
Safety Class S3
Full safety: Water-repellent / waterproof shoes and boots with midsole and toe cap
Options: A very wide range, both with and without scuff caps, different closure systems, shoes and boots, waterproof or water repellent, in various materials. Some with Vibram® soles and heat resistant up to 300 ° C. Always with high walking comfort.
Especially worn by: Outdoor workers who need special sturdy footwear that is also suitable in keeping out the rain. Shoes and boots with scuff caps are mainly worn by people who frequently work on their knees.
Safety Class S4
Full safety: Safety footwear with slip resistant soles and toe cap. Water-repellent according to EN ISO 20345.
Options: Boots with toe cap, shock absorbing and anti-static soles. Slip resistant according to SRC. Water-repellent.
Safety Class S5
Full safety: Safety footwear with nail protection and toe cap. Water-repellent.
Options: Boots with safety. With toe cap, nail protection and shock absorbing, slip resistant and anti-static soles. Footwear with a profile depth of more than 2.5 mm. Water-repellent according to EN ISO 20345.
ESD approved
Footwear with an ESD label avoid electrostatic charging and are able to conduct away controlled static electricity from the body. This will avoid damages to, for example, sensitive electronic components.
Ultra Slip Resistant Sole
Excellent traction with ultra slip resistant soles. Approved by both SRA (tested with soap on ceramics) and SRB (tested with glycerol on steel), which automatically achieves the best standard for slip-resistant soles, SRC.
